When Jose Rosete and I finished working out the screenplay for "The Devil's Playhouse," it was immediately obvious that we had an undeniable exploitation film on our hands. A great story with fantastic characters, but an exploitation film none-the-less. This story glitters with all the flash and appeal of the old 50's, 60's and 70's films that lured generations of youth into neighborhood drive-ins and minimally delivered what was promised on the two-bit poster marquee.
That's where this film separates itself and delivers in spades. It has a gleeful modern edge, a clever story with a solid beginning, middle and end. To me, a great film is one you want to watch again and again, and believe me, this one you will. Please enjoy this sci-fi/thriller with some friends and a bowl of popcorn as we tip our hats to the action, gore, sex and humor of independent shock cinema.
